Leaders should stop politicizing the Mau saga. We are talking about life and death for all living things in around this are .This issue is not about ODM OR PNU. It is about the country and the people .
Rift Valley MPS are opposed to the eviction of the settlers from the Mau forest. According to Water and Irrigation Assistant Minister the Rift Valley MPs opposing the eviction are out to seek ethnic sympathy and support when post-election trials in The Hague or local tribunal, begin. He insisted that people, who are suspected to have incited violence in the Rift Valley last year, are trying to evoke ethnic sympathy. They want their communities to mistake prosecution for persecution when ICC Prosecutor Moreno-Ocampo comes calling.
Five PNU MPs have backed relocation and, if need be, forceful eviction of settlers from the Mau Forest. They underscored the importance of the water tower in maintaining the regional eco-balance. Mwangi Kiunjuri wants the illegal settlers given only 60 days to vacate. But his colleagues asked the Cabinet or President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga to agree on the time frame. Mr Kiunjuri said that these people should have left the forest by now. But for the sake of humanity, 60 days are enough for the Government to find them alternative land.
SEEKING ETHNIC SYMPATHY?
