IS THE MEDIA DOING ENOUGH IN FIGHTING CORRUPTION?

The role of the media is critical in promoting good governance and controlling corruption. It not only
raises public awareness about corruption, its causes, consequences and possible remedies but also investigates
and reports incidences of corruption. The effectiveness of the media, in turn, depends on
access to information and freedom of expression, as well as a professional and ethical cadre of investigative
journalists. One wonders are some these journalists really professionals? kudos to the likes of Mohhamed Juma and Allan Namu who have put up a brave fight against this vice but the question is are our reporters safe after unveiling some very sensitive issues that affect us all?

The media we can’t really say if its doing enough to fight corruption because some journalists actually receive bribes to cover some stories or even to kill a certain story. They work hand in hand with their editors..the other thing is when they uncover some of the stories involving the who is who in Kenya their lives can be put into danger and most of them receive death threats..its a dangerous field to be in….but they should inform the society because we all relie on them for information and thats why we are fighting for FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION…
